St Mary's Cathedral
MONSIGNOR KEVIN NICHOLS WINDOW

The new stained glass window in the Cathedral commemorating the life and work of Monsignor Kevin Nichols, much loved member of the Cathedral clergy from 1998 until his death in 2006.
The theme of the window takes inspiration from his life and ministry as a priest, poet and teacher.
Much of his poetry was published and some extended to music as the composer of hymns which are included in several leading hymn books.
There were many facets to Kevin Nichols’ life: teaching, priesthood, knowledge, creative writing, poetry and inspiration to others.
The Northern Saints and Holy Island were also close to his heart. Monsignor Kevin was a perceptive and thought provoking writer.
A line from one of his poems, which is quoted on his gravestone also appears as a focal point in the window: ‘Master, let your grace, lightsome as a snowflake, settle on us’
